Job Title: Optical Test EngineerJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Optical Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute test procedures for optical components and systems. The role involves analyzing test data to ensure that products meet performance and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Create detailed test plans, procedures, and methodologies for optical systems and components.

Conduct comprehensive optical tests and diagnostics using specialized equipment like interferometers, power meters, and spectrophotometers.

Analyze test data, interpret performance results, generate technical reports, and make data-driven recommendations for product optimization.

Develop and maintain automated test systems, often writing code in Python or MATLAB to enhance efficiency.

Identify and resolve optical-related issues in proto@types and finished products.

Work closely with design, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability and facilitate integration.

Prepare comprehensive documentation, including test plans, work instructions, and performance reports.

Essential Skills

Deep understanding of optics, photonics, geometrical optics, and material properties.

Ability to code in languages like Python or MATLAB and use optical analysis tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V).

Experience operating and maintaining optical test equipment and precision measurement tools.

5+ years of experience as an optical test engineer.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience with space systems, free space optical systems, and precision mechanisms.

Familiarity with sources, metrology tools, optics, and equipment in the infrared spectrum.

Experience with single mode fiber optics and free space fiber coupling.

Proficiency in diffraction limited optical measurements, interferometry, and high-speed optical tracking.

Experience with the space qualification of precision optical systems.

Work Environment

The role requires working onsite in Northridge, CA, five days a week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Burbank, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
