Records Specialist

8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday - Friday)
*A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week (if applicable)
Salary Range : Hourly from $20.76 to $27.53; Annually from $43,347 to $57,483
Salary placement is dependent on education and experience

THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT
The purpose of this position is to provide technical and administrative support to the Records Office. In consultation with the Assistant Registrar, this position maintains office procedures and work systems; responds to new systems or policies; and ensures that data integrity of student academic records is upheld. This position ensures deadlines are met according to the established guidelines, rules and statutes. This position works collaboratively with Student Services one stop, Student Affairs offices, and campus faculty/staff by providing relevant information and technical guidance. All employees of Normandale Community College are responsible for promoting a culture that supports diversity and inclusion in all forms as well as providing excellent customer service continuously to all internal and external contacts.
This position will actively advance the college's strategic goals, including achieving equity in educational outcomes and supporting a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: (expected to have to enter job)
One year experience providing customer service in a fast-paced professional or office-setting
Skill in data entry sufficient to receive and review source documents, compare documents to database information, and edit documents
Skill in word processing sufficient to prepare, edit, and finalize emails, memos, reports, and/or other documents and @types of written communication that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors
Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer's needs, meet quality standards for services, that result in customer satisfaction
Ability to explain policies and procedures in a clear, concise, and professional manner to both internal and external customers
Preferred: (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
At least 6 months professional experience working in a college records office or one year experience in a higher education Student Affairs department.
Working knowledge of current student information system (Integrated Student Records System), Perceptive Content, Minnesota State System related Web Communications and degree audit systems (DARS)
Ability to write and speak multiple languages, especially Spanish, Somali, Hmong, and/or Arabic
Experience working with students from diverse and traditionally underserved backgrounds and with varied needs
Analytical and problem-solving skills along with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently
