We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to support Design Cost and Complexity Analytics. A successful candidate must have experience in statistics and machine learning and be a proven communicator who effectively interfaces between technical and business teams. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of cost modeling, product design (hardware), manufacturing, mechanical engineering or similar.

What you'll do :
Acquire deep understanding of vehicle engineering problems and translate them into appropriate mathematical representations
Work with large and small, complex data sets using tools such as SQL, BigQuery, and Python
Contribute and review code for our code base in GitHub
Make sense of, clean, and assess validity and completeness of data samples from Ford's products, services, and supply chain.
Deliver insights, models, and tools using statistical analysis, sample validation, machine learning, algorithm design, and feature engineering
Interpret modeling results and communicate them to technical and non-technical audiences, cross-functional teams and leadership
Interact and work cross-functionally with a variety of hardware engineers, software engineers, and product designers
Develop trust with stakeholders and peers by delivering results on time
Ensure overall quality of the data & solutions throughout the development process
Provide training and maintenance of implemented tools to business partners
Collect feedback from business users and continuously improve analytic products
Mentor more junior data scientists by being a role model and advisor on the above tasks
Find areas to lead and innovate as a Senior Data Scientist on the team

The minimum requirements we seek :
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research or similar technical field or a related quantitative discipline.
5+ years of experience using statistics, machine learning, and other advanced mathematical techniques for gaining insights from data
5+ years of experience using Python, SQL or BigQuery for acquiring and transforming data
5+ years of experience with real-world data, data cleaning, data collection or other data wrangling challenges
Experience with sampling and sample assessment techniques when data are not ideal, especially in structured data with data gaps (e.g. statistical design of experiments, factorial experimental design, Latin hypercube sampling, and others)
Comfortable working in an environment where problems are not always well-defined
Well-organized, a self-starter, independent and ready to work with minimal supervision
A respectful and committed teammate, willing to excel and work with talented people
Inquisitive, proactive, and interested in learning new tools and techniques
Proven quantitative modeling and statistical analysis skills

Additional preferred requirements:
Masters or PhD in quantitative field, such as (but not limited to) Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research or similar technical field.
Knowledge of cost modeling, product design (hardware), mechanical engineering or similar
Experience deploying Machine Learning in production (ideally MLOps) for internal or external use
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud systems
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to peer, management and business audiences
