Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting doctors and providing essential patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include performing vital sign documentation, preparing patients and rooms for exams, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. You will assist physicians by documenting medical history, relaying instructions to patients, and collecting patient data both in person and by phone.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.

Assist physicians with procedures and document medical history and case notes.

Relay instructions from the physician to patients or authorized persons.

Collect and document patient concerns in person and by phone.

Record messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for physician review.

Take complete and accurate messages, route them to the appropriate area, and manage order and referral entry.

Set up cases in the EMR system and update patient demographics.

Accurately document medical information in patient records.

Track and route test results for physician or nurse practitioner review.

Communicate test results to patients when appropriate.

Facilitate patient care activities, including scheduling tests, reinforcing education, and performing triage.

Maintain adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies.

Perform basic computer skills using electronic health records proficiently.

Process orders appropriately.

Essential Skills

1+ years of Medical Assistant experience

Proficiency in using electronic health records

Experience in taking vital signs and patient care

Familiarity with phlebotomy and EMR systems

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred

Work Environment

The position is based in a busy urgent care facility, with an expected patient load of 50-100 patients per day. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with the flexibility to work until 6 PM if needed. The role offers opportunities for growth within different specialties and the potential for overtime.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
