DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to instruct inmates on the practices, methods, and procedures of the electrical trade at a journeyman level through demonstrations, explanation, and close supervision. Work involves providing both classroom and on-the-job training on the repair and construction of low and high voltage circuitry, such as lighting, power outlets, conduit, underground circuits, switch boxes, breaker panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, electrical appliances, and generators. You will also have the opportunity to assist and inspect work in progress as well as provide guidance and communication throughout all levels of training to ensure that the work meets the standards of the electrical trade.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
