Job Description
Position Purpose**
As a member of a professional advising team, this position provides holistic comprehensive support to students using a proactive, case-management advising approach. The academic advisor delivers timely, accurate, and consistent guidance on course registration, academic planning, transfer options, college policies, and resource referrals to promote the academic success of Century College students. Key responsibilities include:
Developing expertise in assigned Century College Academic Pathway programs and managing a caseload of advisees pursuing those programs.
Providing proactive advising and case management to support the retention of students identified through early alert processes and predictive analytics as needing additional support.
Supporting academic pathway training for new team members.
Participating in college-wide initiatives focused on enrollment, retention, and student success.
Fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and creates a welcoming atmosphere for all students and colleagues.
Position Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive academic advising services for students in-person, virtually and during drop hours.
Provide proactive advising and case management to assigned at-risk students to support retention and persistence.
Support college-wide enrollment, retention, and student success initiatives and processes.
Collaborate with college stakeholders to exchange relevant information and support academic pathway training for new team members.
Salary Range:
$23.98 - $34.69/hour
(DOQ - Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
Minimum Qualifications
Two years' experience in college student personnel, higher education, or related field; an associate degree may substitute for 6 months experience, a bachelor's degree may substitute for 1-year professional experience, a master's degree may substitute for 1.5 years' professional experience .
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in individual and group settings via phone, email and in person.
Strong interpersonal skills to promote and enhance student success.
Demonstrated ability to plan, be highly organized, make decisions, and communicate information accurately and independently.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple computer applications and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and databases.
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor's degree or higher in Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field.
Previous experience working in higher education, specifically in Academic Advising, Transfer Student Services, or Registration.
Previous experience in a community college setting.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize workload, meet required deadlines, initiate, and follow up on activities independently.
Knowledge of policies, procedures and guidelines set by Minnesota State and Century College.
Ability to use ISRS, UAchieve, Transferology, ImageNow, CRMs or similar programs to look up student records.
