Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client's team on a long-term contract basis in River Falls, Wisconsin. In this role, you will play an integral part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations, including payroll processing, account reconciliations, and vendor communications. This position offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with various departments to maintain high standards of financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:

Reconcile accounts and perform detailed reviews to ensure the accuracy of financial records.

Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including the preparation of invoices, billings, and related correspondence.

Process payroll in compliance with organizational policies and federal, state, and local regulations.

File required payroll reports on a regular basis and verify the accuracy of W-2 forms.

Maintain and update payroll manuals and procedural guides to support efficient operations.

Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and assist in managing the organization's banking and investment accounts.

Prepare financial data and reports for audits, council meetings, and management requests.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices, purchase orders, and encumbrances while ensuring proper account postings.

Serve as a subject matter expert for the Munis system, providing guidance on payroll and resolving technical issues.

Assist with the preparation of annual financial reports and legal filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

Proven experience in accounts payable, payroll processing, and financial reconciliations.

Strong knowledge of account coding, invoice processing, and automated clearing house (ACH) transactions.

Familiarity with purchase orders, check runs, and procurement procedures.

Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Proficiency in preparing financial and statistical reports for various stakeholders.
