Description:

Job Title: Medical Assistant II

Department: Outpatient Clinic

Reports To: Clinic Manager

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant II provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves performing routine clinical tasks, assisting with procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with MercyOne standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.

Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant information.

Administer medications and injections as directed by providers.

Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.

Assist with minor office procedures and wound care.

Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.

Provide patient education and instructions for follow-up care.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Current certification as CMA, RMA, or equivalent preferred.

CPR/BLS certification required.

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in EHR systems and basic computer applications.

Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods.

Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
