JOB SUMMARY
As a member an agile scrum team, the Senior Platform Engineer will drive the delivery of standardized, scalable infrastructure automations with an emphasis on security and compliance best practices, built in DR/HA, and cost optimization. The goal of this engineer will be to deliver infrastructure automation that is so seamless and reliable that stakeholders who rely on it can focus on solving business problems without having to think about their cloud infrastructure. This role will collaborate with other teams such as CICD, FinOps, security, application development and more to ensure that the modules we build meet the needs of the organization. The senior platform engineer should be highly skilled in infrastructure as code, and able to advocate for best practices and design choices to improve the overall maturity and performance of our standardized infrastructure offerings.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
6+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation roles
Expert-level proficiency in Terraform, including advanced features such as workspaces, remote state management, and module composition
Proven experience implementing automated testing frameworks for Terraform (e.g., Terratest)
Strong hands-on experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) for policy-as-code implementation and enforcement
Demonstrated expertise with Harness or similar CI/CD platforms for infrastructure automation pipelines
Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their infrastructure products
Experience building and maintaining shared service platforms used by multiple teams at scale
Strong understanding of Git workflows, version control best practices, and GitOps principles
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex infrastructure issues
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multiple cloud providers and multi-cloud strategies
Knowledge of additional policy frameworks and security scanning tools
Familiarity with service mesh, container orchestration, or Kubernetes ecosystems
Experience with observability and monitoring tools for infrastructure
Background in security or compliance domains
Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects
Relevant certifications (e.g., HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate/Professional, cloud provider certifications)
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Research, design, and engineer modules that are standards-based, highly available and secured, delivering the required business functionality and reusable at scale.
Educates internal and external users of the technologies to continually improve the knowledge and skill-base of the organization on how best to operate and support the infrastructure services.
Provides documents with a focus on how services will be leveraged in the solution architecture.
Participates in the evaluation and selection of technology products.
Leads analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.
Leads analysis of technology industry and trends to determine the potential impact on existing and planned architectures.
Implement comprehensive automated testing frameworks for Terraform code, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end validation
Develop and maintain Open Policy Agent (OPA) policies to enforce security, compliance, and governance standards as code
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Harness to automate testing, validation, and deployment of infrastructure modules
Implement best practices and standards for infrastructure as code, including module versioning, documentation, and release management
Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to translate requirements into enforceable policy guardrails
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers on Terraform best practices and platform tooling
Monitor and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of our infrastructure automation platform
Create comprehensive documentation and training materials for module consumers across the organization
