Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Operations to lead our manufacturing team in a high mix, low volume defense electronics environment. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence across assembly and manufacturing engineering, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery of complex products in compliance with defense industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring a creative mindset and a willingness to challenge conventional approaches, fostering innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.
Manufacturing Leadership: Direct and support assembly supervisors and manufacturing engineering to ensure efficient production of diverse, low-volume product lines.
Production Execution: Oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing floor, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Process Improvement: Champion lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
Technical Oversight: Collaborate with engineering to implement process controls, tooling, and automation strategies that enhance product quality and throughput.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to ensure smooth transitions from design to production and timely delivery of customer commitments.
Compliance & Quality: Ensure operations meet all applicable defense industry regulations and standards, including AS9100, ITAR, and other customer-specific requirements.
Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supervisors and production staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.
Performance Management: Identify and address performance gaps within teams and departments, implementing targeted coaching, development plans, and accountability measures to elevate individual and group effectiveness.
Performance Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, labor efficiency, on-time delivery and revenue.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
8+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the defense electronics or aerospace sector.
Proven success in managing high mix, low volume production environments.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, quality systems, and defense industry compliance requirements.
Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
MS Office experience required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Must be a US Citizen.
Special Skills:
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools (e.g., XA, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Familiarity with electronics assembly processes (e.g., cable harnessing, over molding, potting, electrical testing).
Ability to lead change and drive operational improvements in a dynamic environment.
Passion for exploring new ideas, trying unconventional approaches, and fostering a culture of innovation.
Salary Range:
$150,400.00-$200,500.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and @type of position.
