Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Transload Sales Manager to drive revenue growth and lead our business development efforts throughout the Savage Transload Network. Working as an individual contributor, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing business opportunities by leveraging Savage's logistics and supply chain capabilities across the Transload Network and collaborating with our in-house teams of subject matter experts. This role requires a proactive, results-oriented commercial leader-someone who is energized by outreach, skilled at initiating conversations, and comfortable engaging directly with prospective customers to uncover and secure new business.
This position is a hybrid-remote-flex opportunity with high travel requirements and must be located in a city near a major airport hub such as Houston, Chicago or Atlanta.
Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities
Proactively engage with prospective customers through direct outreach, including phone, email, and in-person meetings, to identify and develop new business opportunities.
Leverage knowledge of trucking, freight brokerage, or transportation networks to match customer needs with Savage's transload and logistics capabilities.
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, with a focus on high-velocity deal generation and execution.
Work across Savage to combine and align diverse capabilities to offer comprehensive and integrated supply chain solutions to existing and new customers
Understand industrial supply chains and how to make them more efficient for customers while creating opportunities for Savage
Cultivate and manage relationships with existing key customers; seeking to elevate relationships to a higher level and standard
Participate in market research and analysis to understand the competitive landscape; identify acquisition opportunities and participate in analysis of those opportunities
Lead opportunity development teams that may include, engineering, operations, safety, risk, finance, legal, and others
Prepare and submit proposals; deliver presentations to customers and to Savage senior leadership, and negotiate contracts
Attend industry conferences and events to further develop key relationships
Drive revenue growth across area of responsibility within the Savage Transload Network
Collaborate with operations, safety, and financial teams to create pricing and developing operating plans to meet customer expectations and deliverables.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain or a related field preferred.
Experience in rail, trucking, freight brokerage, or third-party logistics (3PL) sales strongly preferred
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
Demonstrated success in outbound business development, including cold calling and lead generation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with a strong sense of initiative and ownership.
Have solid business development work experience in one or more of the following industries: oil refining, chemical plants, railroads, power generation, terminals, logistics and transportation
Be able to set development initiatives and always demonstrate a sense of ownership and urgency
Have excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
Have strong communication and presentation skills both in an internal company setting and in a customer setting
Have excellent computer skills (emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Proficient in CRM software and sales analytics tools.
Have solid business and financial acumen.
Candidates with a combination of operations and commercial experience highly preferred
Additional Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires approximately 50% regular travel, with heavier traffic cycles during busier times. (Principal travel in North America, including USA and Canada, with potential occasional travel to other international locations, which may include the Middle East.)
Work is predominantly in a professional office environment
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds
Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
Will be exposed to hazardous materials typical to an office setting
Valid Passport and TWIC card
