Summary You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the DRYDOCK BRANCH (Code 984), PRODUCTION ENGINEERING AND FACILITIES DIVISION, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will provide technical engineering associated with the operation, maintenance, modification and testing of all systems associated with the Shipyard dry docks. You will resolve complex problems related to design, operation, and maintenance of the dry dock systems. You will provide technical engineering support and direction to the dry dock maintenance crew, operators, and technicians to support safe operations and maintenance of the dry docks. You will prepare technical instructions, test procedures, standard operation procedures, sketches, correspondence, technical reports to resolve problems and support. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying engineering principles and theories related to industrial engineering equipment and systems. Experience planning and accomplishing conventional assignments requiring some adaptation and interpretation of standard practices, criteria, regulations, and procedures. Experience working with equipment, structures, and systems of other engineering disciplines applicable to industrial facilities and equipment. Experience participating in researching and applying methods, techniques, requirements, and developments for industrial equipment and systems.
