Job Description & Duties:

Under general supervision;

· Inspect and test the accuracy of large capacity scales such as vehicle scales, livestock scales, etc.

· Operate test equipment associated with the test unit.

· Drive scale test unit to inspection sites.

· Enforcing the Georgia weights and measures laws and related regulations

· Testing, inspecting, and determining the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices used commercially in Georgia, including vehicle, livestock, hopper, warehouse, and forklift scales

· Duties also include, but are not limited to, investigating related consumer complaints and preparing documentation related to the event

· This position requires occasional overnight travel

· This position is part of a two-person team

Preferred Qualifications:

· Valid Georgia commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred; however, if the selected candidate does not have a CDL, they must have a valid Georgia driver's license and be willing to obtain a CDL within six months of employment. DOA will pay any fees associated with the new license

· Must have a clean driving record

· Must have communication and customer service skills

· Maintain the State vehicle and all equipment pertaining to the job

· Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions

· General knowledge of the Windows operating system and basic computer skills

· Basic mathematical skills

· High school diploma or GED required

· Selected applicant must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of the assigned territory.

Physical Demands :

· Standing for long periods of time; intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving

· Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. for short periods of time.

Other Duties:

· Price Verification Inspection: Confirming multiple items marked prices with the scanner price.

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in the area of assignment; or two (2) years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences.
