About E&T:
The Caterpillar Energy & Transportation Segment (E&T) has a broad portfolio of products and services which include engines, generator sets, industrial gas turbines and locomotives, along with other related equipment depending on the industry and application. We deliver these products and services to Cat machine, oil & gas, power generation, transportation and industrial customers.
Job Summary:
Caterpillar's Energy & Transportation Purchasing division has an exciting opportunity for a Category Buyer - Electrification in Mossville, IL.
If you would like to play a significant role in Caterpillar's efforts to help our customers win in the energy transition, then this is the team. Identifying and managing a global, resilient, and diverse supply base is paramount to success in electrification for Caterpillar Inc. This is a Category Buyer Role in the " Global Electric Drive Category Team " supporting multiple Caterpillar machine applications. This role will be responsible for Contract Manufactures of Power Electronics . This role is critical for the success of power electronics products which would support current and future Caterpillar customers.
What you will do:
Responsible and accountable for the continued development, communication, and implementation of a worldwide sourcing strategy.
Responsible for managing agreements, source matrices, special programs, and supporting specific Product line(s) NPI programs.
Accountable for acting as the liaison with the corresponding Category/Platform based Buyers.
What you will have:
Effective Communications: Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Interpersonal Relationships: Working knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Negotiating: Extensive experience and knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Contracts Management and Administration: Working knowledge of policies, standards and processes of how to manage and administer contracts; ability to use proper processes and practices for managing and administering a variety of contractual agreements.
Supplier Relationship Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of supplier relationship management concept and strategies; ability to address critical issues to meet supplier needs and maintain engaged, partnering relationship with suppliers.
Strategic Sourcing: Working knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.

Experience with contract manufacturing, power electronics and / or strategy work
Additional Information:
This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires 5-day a week in-office availability
Travel for the role is expected up to 25%

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
