Software Engineer (ELK Stack) - Top Secret On-Site (Herndon, VA)

We are seeking a highly skilled and security-cleared Software Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design, development, and deployment of solutions using the Elastic Stack within Department of Defense (DoD) environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats, and related technologies, coupled with a strong background in containerized applications and real-time data streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka. This role demands a proactive engineer capable of delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions in complex DoD operational contexts.

Due to the Rules and Regulations and Requirements from the US Govt and our Client – This Position requires an Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the work - this position is 100% On-Site No Exceptions

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy Elastic Stack solutions (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) in support of DoD applications and operations.
Implement, maintain, and optimize real-time data ingestion pipelines using Kafka and other streaming technologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate containerized solutions in secure, mission-critical environments.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance system performance, ensuring adherence to DoD security protocols and best practices.
Participate in technical planning, architecture design, and system documentation to support long-term operational goals.
Provide expert guidance on the deployment and scaling of Elastic Stack solutions across multiple environments.

Qualifications

Active Top Secret clearance (required).
Extensive experience deploying and managing Elastic Stack technologies in DoD or federal environments.
Strong proficiency with Apache Kafka, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Familiarity with DoD security standards and compliance requirements.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Experience with advanced Elastic Stack features (machine learning, alerting, and monitoring).
Prior exposure to cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) in secure DoD deployments.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat detection, and secure software development practices.
