Position Summary
Under the direction of the VSL, this position will develop and drive the manufacturing processes through continuous improvement to deliver and sustain profitable growth. The fundamental task will be to assist the VSL in the operation of the department, develop strategy and provide functional direction to supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs all activities related to operations and production in accordance with Global Supply Chain's business plan and the strategic goals of the Company and business units.
Collaborates with colleagues to achieve zero harm safety and environmental performance objectives for the department.
Collaborates with VSL and sets short and long-term production goals for the site.
Directs and manages the overall production plan for the operation.
Collaborates with functional area managers on the determination of materials, space, equipment and personnel needs as well as the development and implementation of processes, procedures, assignment and execution of functional responsibilities, and determination of budget and cost constraints.
Communicates Company's and Global Supply Chain's strategic goals and vision for site.
Evaluates performance against production goals and adjusts allocations of resources (e.g., personnel, equipment, materials) as needed to optimize flawless quality and amount of equipment, machinery and components produced, market share of customers, quality of services provided, and cost-efficiency of operations.
Reviews and analyzes reports of key business performance data, collaborates with management team on operations, and maintains knowledge of current market trends and best practices for region and industry.
Engages the team in supervising day-to-day operations.
Provides strategic guidance and resources to troubleshoot highly complex issues related to departmental operations and customer service to facilitate delivery and service that is on time all the time.
Initiates engineering projects and new product launches.
Leads Lean improvement projects and acts as the liaison between Lean improvement personnel and their respective groups.
Develops and leads the implementation of operational initiatives in support of Lean Six-Sigma manufacturing and 6S (e.g., department utilization improvement, process capability enhancement, customer satisfaction, employee involvement).
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
Sets and communicates standards, deploys resources, and achieves clear and measurable performance expectations for the operation.
Internal Interaction Required With:
Production Operators
Team Performance Leaders (TPLs) and Group Performance Leaders (GPLs)
Support Personnel (i.e., Operations, Maintenance, Production Control, RD&E, Training, Human Resources, Accounting/Finance, Quality, etc.)
Manages:
Has full managerial responsibility, has direct reports, assigns work to staff, provides coaching and training, sets goals, is accountable for performance evaluation, plans staff development, and makes and approves people management decisions either alone or in collaboration with management and HR (including recruitment, promotions, terminations, and compensation).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; Engineering, Technical, Operations, or Finance discipline strongly preferred
3-5 years manufacturing leadership experience
Change Agent experience
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred
Able to work both independently a
