Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Fullerton, California. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining financial accuracy and compliance, with responsibilities spanning reconciliations, grant analysis, and audit preparations. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a strong grasp of accounting principles and government-sector experience.

Responsibilities:

Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Prepare and post monthly and year-end journal entries in alignment with accounting standards.

Analyze government grants and ensure proper documentation and reporting.

Assist in compiling and reviewing the Annual Comprehensive Audit Report.

Support month-end and year-end close processes to meet financial deadlines.

Maintain the general ledger by verifying transactions and resolving discrepancies.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data analysis.

Ensure all accounting processes adhere to government guidelines and standards. Requirements - At least 2 years of accounting experience with a focus on detail and accuracy, preferably in a government setting.

Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.

Strong knowledge of balance sheet account reconciliations and month-end close procedures.

Familiarity with analyzing and managing government grants.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
