Entry Level Chemist

Job Description

This role involves performing analytical testing, laboratory investigations, and analytical method transfers within an OTC drug manufacturing facility. The position reports directly to the QC Supervisor and includes additional tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

Perform raw material, in-process, and release testing using analytical techniques such as UV-Vis, IR, HPLC, GC, AA, titrations, and viscosity analysis.

Follow cGMP, USP, and 21CFR 210/211 requirements for laboratory testing and OOS investigations.

Apply technical knowledge of chromatography and bench chemistry.

Utilize computer skills proficiently with Word and Excel; LIMS experience is a plus.

Apply basic statistics and compare data trends.

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and team-building skills.

Organize, solve problems, prioritize, and follow up effectively.

Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related science field.

Working knowledge of cGMPs in a laboratory environment.

Proficiency in HPLC, GC, wet chemistry, gas chromatography, titration, and ICP techniques.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.

Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Capability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to verify numbers, words, and alphanumeric combinations across multiple mediums.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in pharmaceuticals or food and beverage industries is advantageous.

Open to occasional off-shift and weekend hours.

Training includes HR modules, learning SOPs, and shadowing team members.

Work Environment

This position is located in a lab setting within an OTC environment, manufacturing sunscreen and sun care products. The lab comprises various instruments and a team of Microbiologists, QC Chemists, and Lab Technicians. The role requires flexibility for overtime and potential weekend work. The facility operates under GMP standards and is subject to FDA audits.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
