Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Archaeology Technician (Archeology Technician II) for immediate employment in our Oakland, CA office. This is a part-time, on-call position meaning workdays and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.

The Archaeological Technician primarily performs fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director and/or Principal Investigator. Ideally, candidates should be northern California based as field projects will primarily be in the Bay Area and greater San Francisco region. Candidates will need flexibility to travel overnight for field work sessions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.

May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.

Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.

Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High School graduate + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in archaeological fieldwork.

Valid Driver's License with a good driving record as travel will be required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.

3+ years of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.

Completion of an archaeological field school is highly desired.

Experience with Geospatial technology including GPS and GIS.

Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $28.00/hour - $35.00/hour.
