QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. Job Summary
QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Responsible for software systems engineering products for their assigned Scrum Team, including the development of software products
Perform in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support
Provide systems engineering support for the team that maintains, debugs, and configures related software products
Works from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications
Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
Collaborate with other product teams to break down system requirements into manageable software-level requirements
Work with other product teams to drive system use cases, conops, and sequences
Work with other product teams to develop / update system external interfaces
Author or assist with proposals
Perform software design, software product level use cases, sequences
Create and maintain software design documents, including Algorithm Design Documents and Functional Design Documents
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelors degree with at least 5 years of experience, or equivalent. Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience is desired
IAT - level II within 60 days of hire
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
In-depth understanding of systems engineering process and principles
Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions
Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)
Experience with developing large, complex systems
Software development experience developing applications
Working knowledge of system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)
Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
Experience with developing large, complex systems
Use of common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle, and Eclipse
Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking
Command and control system application development
Automated test and pipeline development experience
Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms
Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts
Experience with performance modeling
Experience with build management tools and pipelines
Prior program experience
Experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Model-Based System Engineering, Architecture development, Virtualization, Containerization, and Cloud Computing principles
Demonstrated experience working on large multi-site software development efforts, including external interface development
Demonstrated experience conducting or leading Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies, and/or Design Evaluations
Experience designing large command and control and/or weapon systems
Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and MBSE tools
Security+ certification
Security Clearance
Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
Salary Range
The below salary range represents a general guideline; however, QTEC considers a number of factors when determining base salary such as the scope and responsibilities of the position as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Salary Range: $135,000 -- $176,000
