Responsibilities Provides technical expertise and direction to staff in matters relating to information management (IT) issues that involve a wide range of IT management that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or major components of an organization. Keeps abreast of the broad field of computer technology and Information Assurance through periodicals, books, participation in conferences, symposiums and work with authorities in the fields. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs. Implements, maintains, and conducts on-site and remote analyses of information system standard security products and associated systems. Prepares and presents formal and informal briefings to chain-of-command management on assigned projects and to other organizations as part of the review process (e.g. in-briefs and out-briefs). Customer Service-Developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication-Briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving-Identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Planning, analyzing, developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems security programs AND preparing and presenting formal and informal briefings to Leadership using latest DoD office productivity and automation tools. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service. Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006. A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
