Summary These positions for the Transportation Assistant - Transportation Coordinator operates within the Transportation Service located at the VA Medical Center, Togus, Maine. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Major Duties: Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Plans consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner. Plans for, organizes, administers and directs how the work will be accomplished. Provides technical and management guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of service resources. Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP) Qualifications You must possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant at the GS-6 level. Qualifying specialized experience includes performing transportation administrative support duties such as: coordinating connections/scheduling, documenting travel information; collecting, compiling, and tracking data on a daily basis; performs a basic analysis of data and generates a variety of reports; entering data into automated tracking data bases; and planning and directing a program that provides support services. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Administration and Management Auditing Clerical IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: You will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning. You will be subject to a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes.
