The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

Job Summary

The Community Supervision Officer II is a mid-level professional responsible for supervising offenders on probation or parole, ensuring compliance with court-ordered conditions, and supporting offender rehabilitation. This position requires experience in case management, risk assessment, and offender supervision while maintaining public safety.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage a moderate to high-risk caseload of probationers and parolees, conducting regular office and field visits. Develop individualized case management plans using evidence-based practices to support rehabilitation. Monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions, including employment, substance abuse treatment, and community service. Conduct home visits, workplace verifications, and electronic monitoring checks. Investigate and report supervision violations, recommending appropriate corrective actions. Make arrests when necessary for supervision violations and coordinate with law enforcement agencies. Submit violation reports, risk assessments, and case updates to the courts and parole board. Conduct urinalysis tests, breathalyzer screenings, and electronic monitoring reviews as required. Work with judges, attorneys, treatment providers, and law enforcement to ensure proper offender supervision. Connect supervised individuals with vocational training, educational programs, and mental health services. Maintain detailed case records, supervision notes, and compliance reports. Use case management software and risk assessment tools to track offender progress. Prepare reports for court hearings, parole board reviews, and interagency meetings.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong ability to assess offender risks and apply case management strategies. Experience in offender supervision, crisis intervention, and compliance enforcement. Knowledge of criminal justice laws, parole/probation regulations, and supervision protocols. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with offenders, courts, and community partners. Strong ability to de-escalate conflicts, negotiate compliance, and provide constructive guidance. Ability to build rapport with diverse individuals while maintaining professional boundaries. Proficiency in case management software, report writing, and data tracking systems. Strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple cases and meet reporting deadlines. Attention to detail for accurate documentation and compliance monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications

At least one year of experience in criminal justice, social work, public administration, psychology, or a related field.

Licensure/Certifications
