Sales Compensation Manager
Job Description:
The Sales Compensation Manager will oversee the administration of sales incentive plans for Sage's US sales organization. This role will lead a team of 5 Sales Compensation Analysts, ensuring accurate and timely facilitation of the monthly commission administration process, resolving misassigned sales incentive plans based on sales role, and delivery of actionable insights to sales leadership.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Leadership, Finance, HR, and Operations to support sales compensation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical foundation, proven leadership experience, and deep knowledge of sales incentive compensation best practices in SaaS sales organizations.
This is a hybrid role: 3 days per week onsite in Atlanta office
Key Responsibilities:
Administration & Operations
Oversee the monthly sales incentive compensation administration process for variable pay employees, including adjustments and confirmation of quotas, ensuring commission payment timeliness and accuracy.
Manage and optimize Xactly Incent workflows including data loads, dispute resolution, and reporting.
Maintain governance controls to ensure adherence to plan terms, policies, and audit requirements.
Lead resolution of compensation disputes or escalations in collaboration with Sales Leadership and HR.
Ensure sellers and managers understand plan mechanics and policies.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 Sales Compensation Analysts to build analytical, operational, and business partnering capabilities.
Set clear performance goals, provide coaching, and drive accountability for delivering high-quality, on-time outputs.
Analytics & Insights
Produce regular and ad-hoc reporting on quota attainment, incentive costs, and plan effectiveness.
Analyze attainment distributions to identify performance trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Present insights and recommendations to sales and finance leaders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the primary liaison between Sales Compensation, Sales Operations, Finance, and HR.
Support change management and communication for new or updated incentive programs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3-5 years of experience in sales compensation, sales operations, or related function, with at least 3 years in a leadership or people management role.
Proven track record managing incentive programs preferably in a SaaS or technology sales environment.
Strong proficiency in sales compensation best practices, quota setting methodologies, and incentive governance.
Hands-on experience with Xactly Incent (data administration, reporting, and analytics).
Experience with Salesforce CRM and data integration between CRM and compensation systems.
Advanced Excel skills; ability to manage large datasets, create models, and conduct variance analysis.
Experience managing multiple performance groups with diverse plan structures.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
Strong understanding of SaaS sales motions (direct, partner, customer success, and renewals).
