The Minnesota Lottery is seeking a dynamic and strategic Assistant Marketing Manager to lead the development and execution of high-impact field marketing initiatives and promotional programs. This role is pivotal in driving player engagement, enhancing retail visibility, and elevating the Lottery's brand presence across Minnesota.
As a brand champion, you'll ensure consistent, memorable experiences at every player and retail touchpoint. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with our advertising agency to align field efforts with broader campaign goals, while managing key partnerships, vendors, and promotional assets.
Key Responsibilities include:
Field Marketing, Merchandising & Sales Support: Lead the development of point of purchase and merchandising strategies that drive visibility and impact at retail; collaborate closely with sales teams to deliver effective, on-brand marketing tools that support lottery sales.
Event Strategy, Activation & Sponsorships: Lead planning and activation of events and sponsorships statewide; Ensure brand consistency and engagement at all public-facing activations
Branding, Ad Agency Support & Special Projects: Collaborate with creative teams and agency partners to align messaging: Manage special marketing initiatives that support brand growth
Vendor & Production Management: Oversee production timelines, budgets, and quality control for promotional items and print materials; Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes
Team Leadership, Administration & Cross-Department Collaboration: Provide guidance and support to marketing staff; Partner with internal departments to ensure cohesive execution of marketing strategies
Minimum Qualifications

Must poses supervisory OR demonstrate leadership experience. Leadership experience can include:
Experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead;
Completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g. ELI, SLI)
Completion of a similar or equivalent leadership development program through another organization.
AND
4+ years of experience in marketing campaigns, retail marketing, events/sponsorship management, or brand management.
Candidates will be assessed on the following minimum qualifications during the interview process.
Experience in managing vendor relationships and procurement processes.
Hands-on involvement in planning and executing public-facing events orsponsorship activations that drive brand engagement.
Background in supporting sales teams with marketing tools, merchandising strategies, and promotional assets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including content creation and editing under tight timelines.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.
*A Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a closely related field may substitute for eighteen months of experience, OR a related Bachelor's degree substitutes for one year, OR a related Associate's substitutes for six months.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience collaborating with advertising agencies or creative teams to align messaging across channels.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
High attention to detail and organizational skills, especially in managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional initiatives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to create compelling presentations and reports.
Strategic thinker with a proactive mindset and ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
Collaborative team player with the ability to build relationships across departments and with external partners.
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional collaboration, including coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders.
