The Vice President of Finance is responsible for managing the day-to-day
financial operations of Housing Assistance Corporation, ensuring
accuracy, compliance, & efficiency across all financial processes.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role provides
oversight of accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, financial
reporting, & grant/contract compliance. The VP of Finance leads the
Finance team to deliver timely & accurate information, maintain strong
internal controls, & support Housing Assistance?s mission by ensuring
financial sustainability & transparency across its social service
programs & housing development initiatives. Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Oversight Oversee daily accounting operations,
including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, &
reconciliations. Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit regulations, &
federal/state grant requirements. Maintain effective internal controls
to safeguard assets & ensure data integrity. Supervise month-end &
year-end close processes. Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis Partner with
CFO to develop annual budgets & forecasts. Prepare accurate & timely
financial statements, internal reports, & funder/lender reporting.
Provide analysis of variances, trends, & risks to support
decision-making. Support CFO in preparing materials for Board Finance &
Audit Committees. Grants & Contract Compliance Manage financial
reporting requirements for government contracts, grants, & restricted
funding. Ensure proper allocation of costs & compliance with funder
regulations. Work with Program & Development teams on budget proposals &
monitoring. Team Leadership & Development Directly supervise the Finance
team, fostering professional growth & accountability. Establish &
maintain SOPs for finance operations. Train staff on financial systems,
policies, & compliance requirements. Systems & Process Improvement
Oversee financial systems (Sage 100, Yardi, & integrations with
HR/Payroll platforms). Streamline workflows to improve accuracy,
efficiency, & reporting. Support implementation of new systems &
upgrades. Additional Duties Monthly meetings with board finance
committee Monthly managers\' meetings Weekly Finance Team meetings
Monthly financial reviews with department directors Be familiar with &
incorporate HAC?s Guiding Values into daily job responsibilities.
Support Company mission & culture. Required Qualifications, Education, &
Experience Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred. Minimum 7-10 years of
progressive financial management experience, including nonprofit or
government-funded environments. Strong working knowledge of GAAP,
nonprofit compliance, & audit preparation. Experience with multi-source
funding (government grants, contracts, donations, real estate
development). H&s on experience with SAGE; Yardi & HRIS integrations a
plus. Proven leadership ability with experience supervising finance
teams (5-10 people). Strong organizational, analytical, & communication
skills. Physical requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk &
working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at Work
Environment The functions of this role are conducted in an office & team
environment. Hours of Work This role is paid on a salaried-exempt basis.
Typically, full-time salaried employees work 35 hours during a Monday
through Friday workweek. However, this is a salaried position.
Therefore, the individual is expected to work as required to complete
the duties of the position. This may mean hours beyond 35 per week are
required.
