Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Configuration Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive configuration management processes and documentation for the AMC IT environment. This on-site role will focus on establishing and maintaining configuration information for all systems and Configuration Items (CIs) supporting the Army Materiel Command (AMC) IT ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with configuration management processes, CMDB administration, and change management procedures in a complex IT environment.
Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Establish and maintain accurate configuration information for all systems and Configuration Items (CIs)
Document configurations and relationships between various IT components and systems
Develop, maintain, and update a Configuration Management Plan (or integrated Asset and Configuration Management Plan)
Utilize Government-provided tools to develop and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
Ensure the CMDB serves as the central repository for all asset and resource configuration data
Support the development and maintenance of approved baselines (OS, desktop, etc.) and the Approved Product List
Integrate configuration data with enterprise and system models
Develop and maintain configuration documentation including architecture libraries and standard operating procedures
Create and update DoDAF/SysML/UML diagrams as required
Prepare and maintain Change Management documentation to support governance processes
Manage baseline configurations and IT assets for Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Client Sites, and above-baseline services
Update the CMDB within two weeks of any configuration changes
Collaborate with technical personnel to ensure accurate and complete CMDB information
Escalate data access issues to appropriate Government personnel
Organize and oversee weekly Configuration Advisory Board (CAB) meetings
Manage Request for Changes (RFCs) through all stages of the change process
Maintain detailed records of all RFCs and meeting minutes using Government-provided resources
Support management reporting, audits, and data calls related to configuration management
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
4+ years of experience in IT configuration management or related role
Demonstrated experience maintaining configuration documentation and databases
Experience with change management processes and procedures
Background in IT service management frameworks (ITIL preferred)
Required Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of configuration management principles and best practices
Experience maintaining Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs)
Familiarity with change management procedures and governance
Understanding of IT asset management concepts and processes
Experience with architecture documentation and modeling
Knowledge of DoDAF, SysML, or UML diagramming standards
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience facilitating governance boards or committees (CAB experience preferred)
Proficiency in documenting and tracking change requests
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and management stakeholders
Experience creating and maintaining standard operating procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of baseline configuration management
Experience updating technical documentation
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama
Desired Skills and Competencies:
ITIL Foundation certification or higher
Configuration Management certifications (CMII, CMI)
Experience working in Department of Defense or Army IT environments
Familiarity with DoD standards and procedures for configuration management
Knowledge of federal information security requirements
Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks
Background in IT service delivery and support
Familiarity with government procurement and lifecycle management processes
Experience with automated configuration management tools
Knowledge of information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) practices
Understanding of IT infrastructure components and relationships
Experience with data analytics and reporting
Background in IT governance processes
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices as they relate to configuration management
Experience supporting compliance audits and inspections
