Compensation (Pay): $45,000 to $65,060/annually, based on experience.

Job Summary : The Medical Records Supervisor reports to the Medical Records Manager. The Medical Records Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Medical Records Department regarding a variety of ongoing projects, training, and day-to-day operations of the Medical Records Team. These operations and projects include but are not limited to developing and creating content regarding the SharePoint Page and newsletter, training of department staff, identifying training needs, day-to-day support for all technicians, tracking staff productivity, and providing overall support and coordination for the department. This position will have a hands-on work approach to participate in daily tasks, support staff directly, and lead by example to maintain high standards of performance and service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with leadership to orient, train, and continuously develop staff, ensuring all technicians are properly and consistently trained.
Assists in the development and maintenance of Medical Records Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Guidelines
Provides health information and other pertinent information to our internal and external customers as authorized and as needed
Maintains control and security of health information through established policies and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards
Ensures the creation and implementation of comprehensive training plans and materials that align with departmental goals and staff development needs
Provides narrative reports and statistical data regarding the performance of the Medical Record Department
Participation in various projects
Maintains the Medical Records SharePoint page
Construction of monthly department newsletter
Maintenance of timecards for direct reports
Performs staff evaluations (bi-annual conversations)
Collaborates with the Medical Records Manager regarding the annual budget
Orders all supplies for the department
Ability to frequently travel inside and outside of the Colorado Springs area to provide on-site training support

Supervision Exercised: Medical Records and Release of Information Technicians
Demonstrates strong leadership skills, knowledge and abilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures that the appropriate personnel meet all job required competencies.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education. Bachelors in relevant area preferred.
Work Experience: 3-4 years of relevant work experience, with 2 years of leadership experience, required. Experience in the healthcare/medical record field is required.
Computer Skills: Intermediate - ability to access the intra/internet to manage timecard, review policies and procedures, and read company communications; use e-mail to communicate with co-workers, leadership, and other departments; use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, merges; manage table data, sort and filter merges, and also perform basic work with existing Macros; customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data, and elaborate reports; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrate functions, and manipulate databases; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment, and to make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and action buttons
Certificates and Licenses: A valid driver's license in good standing. RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification preferred.
