Becoming an AIG Claims JD Summer Intern offers those with legal degrees an opportunity to immediately put their law degrees to work on a wide variety of interesting and challenging matters. As one of the largest global insurers, AIG manages claims for clients in all industries and lines of business (in all fifty states and internationally). AIG affords claim adjusters opportunities to try different areas and utilize their legal and analytical skills from the moment they begin. Adjusters ultimately will learn how to: m anage litigation from the filing of a complaint through appeals including all steps in between: evaluating claims; overseeing litigation, often managing the defense for our insureds in litigated matters; evaluating cases; reporting on trials; negotiating resolutions; and presenting to senior management.
How you will make an impact
AIG's S ummer I nterns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. During the 10-week program , y ou will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge , work ing with leaders on dynamic projects, with plenty of opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.
S ummer I nterns join one of our key business teams , which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment. In addition to meaningful on-the-job experiences , interns will join instructor - led masterclasses, hear directly from senior leaders, and build meaningful connections through mentoring circles, networking events and volunteering.
Following completion of the program , interns may be considered for a n A nalyst role beginning in the summer of 2027 .
What you'll need to succeed
AIG seeks candidates in law school and on track to earn a Juris Doctor degree who have demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about a career in litigation.
The ideal candidates will be strong analytical thinkers and creative problem solvers with an interest in litigation and proven success working as part of a team. They will possess a powerful blend of legal acumen, analytical abilities, and communication skills.
AIG is passionate about the learning and development of their employees. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn and grow their litigation acumen with hands on experience working with outside counsel for optimal claims resolutions.

Program Dates
Our 2026 Summer Internship Program will run from June 1 to August 7 , 2026 .

Early Career Claims JD Summer Intern positions are in-person opportunities and are available in New York (NY), Jersey City (NJ), & Atlanta ( GA ). When we work in the office, we experience greater connections with opportunities to collaborate, innovate and learn together.

For positions based in Atlanta, New Jersey & New York , the base hourly pay range is $35.48 - $42.58 .
