This position is responsible for the overall operation of the departmentand#8217;s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) program. Work involves evaluating and resolving complex ALPR related system and technical issues by providing effective, efficient, and innovative solutions for the program. This role includes serving as a lead program administrator and providing guidance to others. Work involves frequent contact with the public, state agencies, governmental entities, and other internal DPS divisions/sections/units, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. Participate in the development and execution of enterprise level strategies for the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Program including establishing processes and procedures for executing and maintaining program road maps.2. Meet and coordinate with first responders and technology stakeholders, both internal and external to the department to identify business needs, manage expectations, and communicate ALPR program progress, challenges, and success metric.3. Collaborate with peers of the Public Safety IT unit sharing resources, best practices, and lessons learned to ensure overall success and consistency of all programs/products managed by Public Safety IT.4. Control access of personnel, designate approved training, and approve or deny written requests to access or use ALPR data.5. Maintain an inventory of single-purpose ALPR cameras operated by the department.6. Ensure ALPR program remains compliant with relevant regulations and policies, including CJIS policies and department data policies.7. Develop and maintain ALPR program documentation and governance, including support materials, instructions on performing complex tasks, and technical documentation that describes in detail: system processes, system design, and integrations with other systems.8. Provide direct support in the evaluation, procurement, and contract monitoring of ALPR-related technologies intended for use by the department.9. Evaluate and prioritize any changes to ALPR systems to ensure alignment with divisional and strategic plans, customer business needs, and vendor capabilities.10. Research current trends and solutions in ALPR technology or business processes and identify potential high-impact areas for further analysis.11. Coordinate proof of concept, field tests, studies, and the preparation of reports that include study findings, recommendations, and instructions for proposed ALPR solutions or technology.12. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:Education and#8211; Graduation from a standard senior-high school or equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelorand#8217;s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.Experience and#8211; Minimum of four (4) yearsand#8217; experience supporting or implementing information or communications technology is required. Two (2) yearsand#8217; experience in managing or administrating Automated License Plate Reader systems is preferred.Substitution Note: Additional work experience of the @type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.Licensure and/or Certification and#8211; If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.Critical Organizational Infrastructure requirements and#8211; This job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure; must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
