Frontier-Kemper Constructors is the general contractor for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project. The scope of the approximately $1.1 billion contract entails the construction of a new deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet (CDUV) Light Disinfection Facility, both in Westchester County, New York. The new tunnel will provide an additional means of conveying water between the Kensico Reservoir and the CDUV Facility, enhancing operational resiliency and redundancy for New York City's water supply system.

DESCRIPTION:
As a TBM Electrical Superintendent at Frontier-Kemper, reporting to the General Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for overseeing the electrical repair work and maintenance on the TBM and construction equipment. The position is also responsible for the coordination of machine assembly and installation, the preventative maintenance program, and repair work for all TBM related equipment. The positions supervises craft electricians to ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition.
Supervise and perform technical work related to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and other critical construction equipment.
Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations, maintaining the highest operational standards.
Foster effective employee relations by providing coaching, development opportunities, and resolving workplace issues through proactive problem-solving.
Lead electrical operations and establish best practices to ensure the highest quality workmanship on all installations and repairs.
Monitor, track, and report employee attendance and timekeeping records.
Manage the procurement, inventory, and tracking of electrical spare parts required for TBM operations.
Coordinate with the TBM vendor to define electrical consignment part requirements and oversee their on-site utilization.
Develop and manage work schedules to ensure timely, efficient, and successful project execution.
Oversee the implementation, integration, and enforcement of all FK/TP safety programs across the project site.
Assist in developing and executing pre-planned construction schedules to meet project milestones.
Control project-related costs and ensure alignment with established budgetary goals.
Actively participate in weekly project progress and scheduling meetings, providing updates and resolving potential issues.
Maintain effective communication with vendors, suppliers, and other external partners to ensure smooth project execution.
Oversee the planning, installation, maintenance, and performance of project communication and security systems.
Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve TBM electrical issues during both normal excavation and emergency scenarios, adapting to complex geological conditions.
Possess a deep understanding of TBM mining processes to optimize equipment performance, resolve electrical system failures, and ensure operational continuity.
Demonstrate proficiency in PLC systems, including the ability to read and interpret PLC programs for machine troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Maintain cross-disciplinary competency in mechanical construction, hydraulics, pneumatics, tunneling techniques, and rock support systems to ensure effective collaboration and problem-solving.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall project success.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in electrical systems and operations related to tunneling or large-scale infrastructure projects .
Proven experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Strong project management abilities with demonstrated success leading electrical operations and coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.
Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with engineers, field construction personnel, vendors, and stakeholders at all levels.
Highly organized, dependable, and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset.
Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with large AC/DC drive systems , control system troubleshooting , and preventive maintenance practices .
Proficient in PLC programming and diagnostic software for troubleshooting and maintaining Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and related automation systems.
Hydraulic Systems Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the interface between electrical controls and hydraulic systems , with proven experience resolving complex integration issues.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) for reporting, scheduling, and project coordination.
