ABOUT THE ROLE
The IT Asset Technician plays a critical role in supporting the IT Asset Management Team by ensuring the efficient management, tracking, and maintenance of IT hardware, software, and related assets. This position may be responsible for the procurement, deployment, retrieval, and disposal of IT assets, as well as providing minimal technical support to ensure seamless operations. The IT Asset Technician will work closely with the IT Asset Manager to maintain accurate inventory records, support lifecycle management, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Asset Procurement and Deployment:
Assist in the procurement of IT hardware and software, including custom and standard equipment.
Receive, inspect, and tag new IT assets, ensuring they are entered into the inventory system.
Deploy laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and other IT equipment to employees, ensuring proper configuration and setup.
Lifecycle Management:
Support laptop and mobile device refresh, upgrade, and replacement initiatives.
Perform hardware diagnostics, coordinate repairs, and manage warranty claims.
Assist in the disposal of decommissioned IT assets, ensuring data security and environmental compliance.
Inventory and Auditing:
Maintain accurate records of IT assets in the inventory management system.
Conduct regular inventory audits to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance.
Track asset assignments, retrievals, and transfers.
Employee Support:
Provide technical assistance for IT asset-related issues, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
Retrieve IT equipment from active and terminated employees, ensuring data security and asset recovery.
Support software assignment and license management.
Process Improvement:
Follow established IT asset management processes and procedures.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Document processes and maintain up-to-date knowledge of IT asset management best practices.
Skill: Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
Job Complexity: Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
ABOUT YOU
Technical Expertise:
Proficient in managing IT hardware (laptops, mobile devices, peripherals) and software (Windows 10, macOS, iOS, Microsoft O365).
Familiarity with inventory management systems and IT asset tracking tools.
Basic understanding of Active Directory, Intune, and device management platforms.
Organizational Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
Ability to identify process inefficiencies and propose solutions.
Communication:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees and cross-functional teams.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted).
Ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and climbing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in IT asset management, technical support, or a related role. Experience with IT procurement, inventory management, and lifecycle processes.
Certifications (Preferred): ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, or other relevant certifications.
