As our Senior Data Scientist, you will lead complex projects across multiple business lines, provide strategic insights to internal and external stakeholders, and mentor junior team members. Each day, you will use a proactive approach to drive data initiatives and contribute significantly to R1's data strategy, demonstrating an understanding of machine learning concepts, data engineering techniques, and presentation-ready reporting. You will facilitate converting business needs into technical projects and have demonstrated experience in meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work, solving complex problems. To thrive in this role, you must have extensive experience in data science, advanced statistical modeling, and machine learning.
Responsibilities:
Conduct sophisticated exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
Develop, implement, and refine advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems.
Lead the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large and complex datasets from multiple sources.
Lead and manage data science projects from conception to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and high quality.
Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support business decision-making.
Collaborate with IT to prepare and manipulate structured and unstructured data for data discovery and mining from multiple disparate resources.
Build high-end analytic models, utilizing supervised and unsupervised learning models, to support decision makers with data-driven insights that address immediate business problems and objectives.
Create informative and compelling visualizations that intuitively display large amounts of data and/or complex relationships; translate data analytics into coherent reports and presentations for internal and external customers with varying degrees of technical expertise and knowledge.
Have a specialty in machine learning, artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, optimization, or advanced statistics.
Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI, and apply new techniques and tools as appropriate.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior data scientists and analysts.
Required Skills:
History of delivering data science projects, including data discovery, modeling, and application integration.
Experience leading data science projects, including resource allocation, project estimation, and mentoring other staff members.
Can facilitate converting business needs into technical projects.
Experience using Python to program machine learning models.
Experience using SQL to extract, load, and transform data at scale.
Knowledge of deploying models and reports into cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS, etc.).
Advanced knowledge of machine learning modeling techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, and NLP) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present results to teams of people, including executive stakeholders.
Can work independently to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced experience in statistics and applied mathematics.
2+ years of experience working in healthcare.
6+ years of experience utilizing machine learning models.
Advanced knowledge working with Azure Machine Learning and notebook coding environments.
Understanding of performance improvement techniques for extracting large datasets from SQL-based environments.
Experience using Databricks for enterprise-scale datasets.
For this US-based position, the base pay range is $93,244.00 - $152,065.42 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
This job is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan at a target of 10.00%
