Junior Sales / Business Development Representative

Location: Bolingbrook, Illinois (Hybrid Work Schedule)

Salary base of $40-50k plus commission

The Junior Sales / Business Development Representative is responsible for generating new business opportunities and expanding our client base within the transportation and logistics sector. This entry-level role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to grow within a dynamic industry. While prior logistics experience is a plus, it is not required. The ideal candidate is driven, confident, and focused on outbound prospecting, relationship building, and client engagement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Actively source and pursue new sales leads through cold calling, networking, and market research

Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients across multiple transportation modes (truckload, less-than-truckload, retail LTL, etc.)

Conduct introductory meetings to assess client needs and present tailored logistics solutions

Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized proposals and pricing strategies

Track sales activity using CRM software and maintain accurate records of client interactions

Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets for new business

Provide feedback to sales leadership regarding market trends and customer needs

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)

0-2 years of experience in a sales or client-facing role; logistics/transportation industry experience a strong plus

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Highly motivated, competitive, and goal-oriented with a strong hunter mentality

Comfortable making cold calls and engaging with prospects via phone, email, and in-person meetings

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to thrive independently as well as collaboratively within a team

Proficient in Microsoft Office; CRM experience a plus

Compensation: $40,000 - $50,000 base salary plus commission potential
