Job Summary
Director, Information Systems - Shared Services is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing information technology (IT) solutions for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) Shared Services business departments, including Business Operations, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and First Line (Public Safety, Emergency Management, and Facilities). IT solutions may include new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems, enterprise-wide systems, computer operations, information security, service management, and telecommunications. In addition, the Director IS Shared Services is responsible for the following:
Leads system design, analysis, programming, installation, configuration, quality reviews, and user acceptance of BSWH software, hardware, and systems technology using the Agile/Scrum framework.
Directs the development and analysis of business requirements, system specifications, and system integration considerations to determine appropriate IT solutions for BSWH.
Establishes and directs IT strategies, initiatives, programs, policies, processes, procedures, and standards to meet the IT needs of the organization in accordance with BSWH Shared Services and Executive business strategies.
Identifies, recommends, and implements changes in software, hardware, and systems technology in collaboration with BSWH business service lines in the IS Shared Services portfolio.
Assesses and directs the IT function and develops plans for improving IT solutions through increased efficiencies to achieve desired service, security, and cost levels.
Develops functional plans for managing IT resources, including activities to be performed through third-party relationships to best manage the BSWH IT systems.
Provides guidance on high priority IT projects, information system integrations, IT industry trends, and current and future IT investments needed to support BSWH business objectives and future growth.
Makes final decisions on Run operational matters and ensures achievement of Run objectives.
Plans and directs the operations of a department or area, with responsibility for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs of the unit.
Leads and advises subordinate(s) to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. Has a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often has one or more managers or supervisors reporting to the role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Directs IT solutions for assigned area of responsibility for BSWH
Serves as trusted technical advisor to BSWH Shared Services Business Leadership, and resolves problems, provides IS process guidance, and recommends solutions based on business requirements
Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and priorities for information services aligned to BSWH Shared Services and
Executive business strategies. Maintains and fosters stakeholder relationships with Shared Services Business Leadership to establish and continuously groom prioritized business technology roadmaps.
Establishes Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) with Shared Services Business Leadership that meets business strategies and measures IS success in meeting the strategies.
Directs the development and implementation of IT initiatives and projects using the Agile/Scrum framework, including current and proposed technical architecture, applications, and processes that will improve IT service delivery and deliver business value.
Partners with Shared Services Business Leadership to prioritize IS projects, ensure the project Product Backlogs are executed in business priority and continuously groomed, provide mentoring to Product Owners, ensure long-term sustainability of the implemented solutions, and maintain cost effectiveness of the project.
Leads application selection, software systems development, systems maintenance, production activities, and necessary support resources in conjunction with the Shared Services Business Leadership.
Ensures that IT services are delivered in a timely, accurate, effective, and cost-efficient manner to provide outstanding customer service to user groups. This includes timely management and negotiation of software licensing and subscription renewals in conjunction with Shared Services Business Leadership to budget their cost without variance to actual cost and without missing licensing and subscription end dates.
Acts as a IT liaison for assigned areas of responsibility, including senior leadership, vendors, and user groups, to ensure effective IT communications.
Directs Run operational for applications for the business service lines in the IS Shared Services portfolio, ensures achievement of Run OKRs, approves ad-hoc break-fix enhancements and activities, including change and release management.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in IT management, IT application development specifically using Agile, or related field.
1+ years of experience in a leadership role.
Experience in IT operations, service delivery, project management, service level management, and vendor management. Managed Services
Partner experience and knowledge of Service Integration and Management (SIAM) preferred.
Knowledge of IT technologies, including server, virtualization, networking, and storage.
Experience leading large technology deployments and initiatives, preferably in healthcare environment.
Technical or service management certification preferred, such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience examples of critical thinking to resolve business and/or IS problems.
