The Administrative Assistant provides support to the Board of Trustees, volunteers, members, and the public. This important part-time position is responsible for a wide range of administrative and museum-related duties. These include processing email and physical correspondence; answering the phone; assisting members, volunteers, and the public with requests for information; data entry; clerical support; historical research and transcription; assisting with collections processing; helping with museum tours; and the daily opening and closing of the museum.

DUTIES Foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all our public visitors, members, volunteers, and board members. Provide an excellent visitor experience, whether it is at the museum or Schryer Center, over the telephone, or via our Facebook page or website. Pick up and sort all physical and digital correspondence. Direct to the appropriate person, or answer, if you are able. Promote and process FCHMS membership. Assist with collections, data entry, processing, and storage. General clerical duties Daily opening and closing of the museum Docent duties: Conduct and/or coordinate museum tours for visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS At least two years of office management experience is preferred but not required. Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Proficiency with computers and software applications preferred Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skills Punctuality and reliable transportation Ability to maintain confidentiality

HOURS AND COMPENSATION Part-time position Maximum of 20 hours per week at $16-20 per hour (much less during winter months) Hours: Monday Friday 10am to 2pm Fall and Winter hours to be discussed. Note: Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed for special events, tours, or time-sensitive projects. These will be coordinated as far as possible with consideration to pre-existing commitments.
