- VICTIM WITNESS COORDINATOR REHABILITATION AND PROGRAMS KALISPELL, MT. MISSION - Montana Department of Corrections is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. TheRehabilitation and Programs Divisionensures the physical and mental well-being of inmates, delivers educational and vocational opportunities within prisons, and oversees community facilities dedicated to successfully reintegrating offenders into Montana communities. JOB SUMMARY: TheVictim Witness Coordinatorassists victims of crime, protect and advocate for the rights of victims, provide necessary information and prevent further victimization. This position develops and conducts training for service-agencies, community-based programs and criminal justice personnel. Coordinate interagency safety planning for victims of high-risk offenders confined in MDOC facilities, county jails, or living in the community under supervision of the Department. Collaborate with Probation and Parole Officers during the Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI) process, the risk assessment process, the development of offender supervision plans, the conditional release process and reentry planning to ensure that information from victim(s) is appropriately considered and integrated into these processes. Develop and maintain a network of collaborative partnerships with victim advocates, criminal justice agencies, and other community-based service providers in support of victim safety during offender reintegration into the community in high-risk situations. QUALIFICATIONS: The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field. Three years of experience in a position in which the primary job responsibility is providing services to victims of crime; or a total of five years of experience in a position in which the primary job responsibility is providing services to victims of crime is equivalent. Serving as a volunteer under a victim services program is considered experience and should be included in work history. Credentialing within 18 months of start date. Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Tobacco Free - The use of all tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco products and tobacco substitutes is prohibited in Department of Corrections buildings.
