Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Summer 2026 Opto-Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the Optical Talent Center. As an Opto-Mech Intern, you will support optical payload hardware development for space applications. You will design, analyze, and/or test opto-mechanical systems and components.
The Optical Talent Center enables new frontiers in visible-light and infrared systems, missile defense, space exploration and much more. Our members integrate authorities across the nation, within Lockheed Martin, our industry partners and leading research universities, in to one fast-acting collaborative group. You should demonstrate effective verbal communication and a commitment to collaborative technology development.
Basic Qualifications:
-Working towards Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related degree field
-Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
-Experience with computer aided design and/or analysis
-Must be a US Citizen
Desired Skills:
-Experience with mechanical or opto-mechanical design
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Proficient with Microsoft Office

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $29,598 - $64,168. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
