The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Justin P. Forkner, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.
Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,000 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

About the Job:
This position serves as Deputy Director for the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (JLAP), working with the Executive Director, other staff, and the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program Committee, in performing their duties under Rule 31. JLAP provides confidential, compassionate support to all judges, lawyers, law students, bar applicants, and Indiana Supreme Court employees by promoting well-being, improving lives, fostering connection, and thereby elevating the competence of the legal profession. The Deputy Director reports directly to the Executive Director of JLAP, and in the Executive Director's absence is responsible for all matters related to the operations of JLAP.
A Day in the Life:
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Assisting with JLAP's outreach and education efforts, including planning and providing presentations, seminars, and trainings, and arranging placement of articles and other pieces for publication
Assisting with the law school outreach efforts, including scheduling, and locating speakers to present at law school events; and collaborating effectively with law school administration and staff
Collecting and preparing relevant data regarding JLAP calls for help and programming to track trends, guide outreach and education efforts, and ensure services are reaching the entire population of the Indiana legal community
Overseeing the JLAP monitoring program, including developing and maintaining policies, standard monitoring agreements, and related forms; reviewing all monitoring agreements; and acting as a liaison with JLAP's drug testing partner on matters regarding collection of monitoring fees and policies regarding alcohol and other drug testing of participants
Overseeing the 250+ attorneys participating in the JLAP volunteer program, including drafting policies on volunteer qualifications and application process, developing comprehensive initial training and continuing education, and supervising staff outreach to volunteers and volunteer retention initiatives
Assisting with draft budgets and supplemental notes related to those budgets for Executive Director's review/revision, and acting as the primary liaison to the Court fiscal department
Assisting with supervision of staff, including advising staff to audit their cases for completion and accuracy, discussing updates with the case managers on their active cases as needed, assisting with determining suitable volunteers or courses of action for callers with the case managers, managing office coverage and staff scheduling, including staff participation in continuing education
Assisting with preparation of JLAP committee meeting agendas, reports, and meeting details, and participating and/or presenting in those meetings
Assisting with development and review of strategic plan and policies and procedures as needed; maintain a strategic focus across all JLAP programming to ensure ease of participation for the legal community; developing creative new initiatives and opportunities for growth
Fostering relationships and communicating effectively with internal and external partners to ensure relationships are strong, effective, and streamlined wherever possible
Sharing in the responsibility for evening and weekend coverage of the office by periodically participating in the coverage through whatever system JLAP currently has in place

What You'll Need for Success:
Must either be a member in good standing of the Indiana Bar or have a master's degree in a clinical discipline such as social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling or addictions with a current license in the appropriate clinical field.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
