The Minnesota Veterans Home-Minneapolis is looking for a part-time General Maintenance Worker Lead to assist in our Housekeeping department. This position provides lead work to General Maintenance Workers in the cleaning of assigned units and/or buildings of the Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis. This position inspects and ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs' policies and procedures.

This position is designated a part-time. The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for the full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

The Minneapolis Home is located on Minnehaha Avenue, which has connecting highways and public transportation options for an easy commute. The beautiful 53-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Mississippi River.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Principles of leadwork sufficient to plan, direct, provide training for, monitor, and review work of subordinates.

Different @types of flooring sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance.

Chemical cleaning agents sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.

Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to operate safely, demonstrate effectively, and make minor repairs or to direct repairs.

Ability To:

Provide instructions sufficient to ensure other GMW workers understand assignments.

Keep records and perform clerical functions and math calculations sufficient to order supplies and complete inventories.

Read and understand written materials such as instruction manuals, and procedure and policy information.

Use good interpersonal communication skills allowing to give, receive and follow direction in a professional manner.

And

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:

Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).

A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.

A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
