Senior Product Designer

Overview:

We are a small (but mighty!) product design team focused on improving the end-to-end account opening experience for M&T Bank Customers; both online, in the branch and in the call center. You'll design workflows and forms that make it easier for our customers to open accounts with M&T and to service those accounts. You'll contribute to the evolution of our design practice while working alongside Product, Technology, and Business partners to deliver thoughtful, accessible, and customer-first solutions. We're looking for someone who's passionate about simplifying complex flows, understands the importance of good form design, and knows how to balance business goals with user needs.

While our team is small, we are part of the larger Digital Experience Design organization that spans across M&T and Wilmington Trust, offering strong support, collaboration, and alignment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design user flows and interfaces for digital and in-branch account opening, focusing on our digital sales research site, form design, and application clarity.

Translate research, business requirements, and technical constraints into customer centricsolutions.

Create concepts, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and proto@types that communicate ideas and drive alignment across teams.

Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and other partners to define functionality and ensure successful implementation.

Contribute to, and advocate for design standards, accessibility best practices, and design system usage.

Conduct design critiques, participate in team rituals, and iterate on designs based on feedback from designers, product, developers, and stakeholders.

Support usability testing and partner with researchers to gather insights that inform your design decisions.

Mentor more junior designers and contribute to growing a culture of design quality, craft, and collaboration.

Influence product roadmap planning by identifying design opportunities, raising usability concerns, and helping prioritize work based on customer and user impact.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

As a Senior Product Designer, you will take ownership of critical flows within digital and branch sales funnel, from product awareness through product acquisition. You will work cross-functionally with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and technical feasibility. You'll be a key contributor to the evolution of our platform, design practice, and product vision.

Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or similar, and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years education and/or relevant/product design work experience.

Experience designing for form-heavy or workflow-intensive experiences, preferably in regulated industries.

Demonstrated ability to apply user-centered design methods throughout the product lifecycle.

Proficiency with Figma and modern design tools such as Adobe CC and Miro.

Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate with stakeholders, and incorporate feedback into your work.

Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices for inclusive design.

Experience working with agile development teams and iterating based on feedback and data.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Experience working in financial services or with complex, compliance-driven workflows.

Experience designing digital sales research sites, digital sales funnels, back-office software, and banker-assisted digital experiences.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $82,783.41 - $137,972.36 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
