Position Summary
The Design Engineering Co-op will be responsible for assisting with various design projects within a manufacturing setting. You will work with existing products to make design updates while integrating input from technical, manufacturing, quality, and other disciplines. Working with internal cross-functional teams, the position requires professionalism, dedication, and positive drive to ensure the completion of the projects in a time-sensitive, regulated environment.

Dates: Spring 2026 (January-May) - potential to start earlier during winter break
Location: Mentor, OH
Work Environment: Onsite
What You'll Do as a Design Engineering Co-op
Design and develop product improvements, specifically supporting new and current product lines.
Utilize Creo to develop and change designs and document them.
Integrate input from technical, manufacturing, quality, and other disciplines. Create and drive a design solution and all associated support documentation according to internal compliance.
Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope or several projects of smaller size/scope.
Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design/process, quality and customer requirements. Work with internal team and external suppliers to resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
Creates/coordinates Bills of Material,mechanical assembly drawings, component drawings, and all other engineering documents required to support product line/upgrades. Processes/coordinates engineering changes and product documentation in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
Student pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Biomedical preferred. Sophomore year requirements must be completed by co-op start date.
Basic experience in CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, and/or equivalent)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Requires a fundamental understanding and application of mechanical engineering principles
Preferred:
Previous coursework or experience in manufacturing or a strong desire to gain experience in manufacturing
Other:
Strong problem solving and clear written and oral communication skills required
Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams
Preference is for candidate to return for multiple co-op rotations
Pay range for this opportunity is $18-25/hr.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
