Job Description
Active TS/SCI with CI Poly Required
As a Facilities Service Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity, safety, and functionality of government facility infrastructure. You will respond to service requests across a variety of building systems-plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and more-diagnose problems, perform repairs, collaborate with contractors or specialized teams, and document all service activities to ensure timely, safe, and effective outcomes.
Responsibilities
Receive, acknowledge, and prioritize trouble calls-ranging from minor issues (e.g., broken light bulb, clogged toilet) to more serious problems (e.g., HVAC malfunctions, electrical outages, water leaks).
Use technical expertise and diagnostic tools to identify root causes of facility malfunctions.
Execute necessary maintenance, adjustments, or replacements to restore system functionality promptly.
Collaborate with facilities colleagues, HVAC or electrical specialists, contractors, and external vendors when advanced expertise or parts are needed.
Log detailed records in the facility management system, including nature of problem, corrective actions taken, parts used, and completion times-ensuring compliance with audit and operational standards.
Adhere strictly to applicable safety protocols and building codes to maintain regulatory compliance and protect personnel and property.
Contribute to scheduled preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the life of building systems.
Conduct facility inspections or assist in monitoring contractor performance and conformance with regulations and standards.
Serve as the initial point of contact for tenants or internal stakeholders-providing updates on maintenance status, scheduling, and any impacts to operations.
Utilize facility management software (e.g., CMMS systems) to open, monitor, and close service requests-ensuring accurate tracking and metrics.

A combination of education and directly related experience equal to two (2) years*; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

Other Job Requirements
Active TS/SCI with CI Poly Required
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related building systems preferred.
1-3 years of practical experience in facility repair, maintenance trades, or a comparable environment (commercial, institutional, or government facilities).
Must be able to safely work in confined spaces, elevated locations, or areas with variable temperatures, as facilities work often involves physical activity and environmental exposure.
Ability to carry/lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or elevated platforms.
Flexibility to respond to emergency after-hours calls, including nights, weekends, or holidays, as needed
Familiarity with facility management tools and diagnostic equipment.
Basic understanding of building code and safety standards (OSHA)
