Reporting to the Executive Director of the Nexus Center for Applied Learning & Career Development ("Nexus Center"), the Director of Career Development will fulfill the mission of the office to integrate career development and applied learning initiatives at the college for the benefit of students/alumni. The Director will lead the delivery of career development services and resources, holistically with applied learning services, including through individualized and group counseling. The Director will manage academic and recruiting programming/events to increase student and employer engagement, to increase career and applied learning opportunities, and to advance hiring/career outcomes. Serving as a liaison for the Nexus Center, the Director will collaborate with faculty/staff, academic programs and other departments throughout all schools of the College, and with employers/external partners, to ensure students and graduates are supported in achieving success.
Responsibilities include:
Work closely with Executive Director and staff to promote awareness of the Nexus Center. Lead the delivery of Nexus Center career development, applied learning and recruiting programs, in furtherance of the goals of Academic Affairs.
Handle hiring, training and supervision of staff/counselors, administrative assistant, work study students and student assistants, and perform related administrative duties.
Manage/develop recruiting events, including large-scale job fairs, and other programs for employers and other organizations to connect with students/graduates, with the aim of increasing career and applied learning opportunities and hiring of students/alumni.
Partner/collaborate with faculty and other campus departments to develop and lead workshops and events.
Manage Career Connect platform and other technological resources of the office. Promote use of technology to optimize office operations, services, engagement, assessment and reporting. Collect data to evaluate student/alumni engagement and satisfaction and provide detailed assessment and reporting. Research and work with vendors and campus partners, including IT, for the implementation and maintenance of technologies.
Oversee/provide holistic program of individualized and group career counseling for students and alumni in concert with the college's programs and integrate with applied learning endeavors. Meet with students and alumni for individualized and group career counseling, including resume/application preparation, interview skills, job search and career assessments.
Serve as liaison with campus community and external partners, including to research and identify employment trends and to enhance the services of the office. Promote the awareness of the Nexus Center across campus to all constituents and to external partners for the development of increased opportunities and partnerships.
Lead marketing strategies for students, employers, faculty/staff and alumni, including updating content for website. Draft materials and handouts, make presentations, including to classes, student organizations and at professional events. Represent the Nexus Center/FSC, including presenting at internal and external events/conferences and through participation in professional organizations.
Contribute to the overall success of the Nexus Center and the students/alumni of the college by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but instead receive renewable term appointments.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in counseling, higher education administration, or related field.
At least five years of experience working with college students, preferably counseling, advising, or career services.
Career development expertise, including in drafting and reviewing resumes/cover letters/job applications, job search strategizing for students and alumni, and interview preparation.
Demonstrated ability in developing and administering academic programs/events, including effective collaboration.
Excellent written and oral presentation skills, including to prepare and deliver presentations to communicate knowledge of academic programs, strategies and resources to varied constituents.
Ability to work productively, both independently and as part of a team. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and flexible.
Must possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with applied learning concepts, including mentorship, experiential education, project-based learning, student research, and SUNY Applied Learning initiative.
Experience using technology and internet resources; proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint.
Ability to utilize databases and computer resources, including to generate reports in order to respond to internal and external requests for information, including reporting on assessment and outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty across disciplines.

This is a full-time UUP position.

SALARY: $90,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $94,000 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
