Summary This position serves as a Property Manager in the Material Management Division of the Logistics Service in the Northport VA Medical Center, with responsibility for the inventory and lifecycle management of all non-expendable (NX) equipment in the assigned area(s). Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Lifecycle Management: Responsible for the lifecycle management of non-expendable assets; conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning; analyzes data; supports customers and acquisition personnel in developing requirements, utilizing mandatory sources and standardization sources; and corresponds with procurement officials and other stakeholders to resolve issues. Utilizes a range of well-established and commonly applied inventory principles, standard and non-standard methodologies, and concepts to determine need to intervene in the supply system in response to fluctuations in rates of usage, cost, availability for established suppliers, alternative sources of supply and similar conditions. Inventory Management and Control: Responsible for the management and control of NX equipment assets; serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment Performs other related duties as assigned. Specialized experience includes: conducting research and maintaining perpetual inventory accounts for non-expendable equipment in a data base system; determining required sources of equipment, purchase card program and simplified acquisition procedures; using bar code scanning equipment and appropriate tagging equipment to implement property accounting systems; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues, and improve operations; and advising on the management, control, and accountability of equipment in use. ~OR~ GRADUATE EDUCATION: Successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. ~OR~ COMBINATION: Possess equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. ~OR~ SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the baccalaureate level in the qualifying curriculum detailed above is fully qualifying. Physical Requirements: Involves a mix of working in an office environment and warehouse. A great amount of time walking and climbing stairs is required to conduct on-site inventories of equipment and lifting of up to 40 pounds is required. Work conditions are often indoors, but could occasionally be dirty, hot, humid or unusually cold. Work is performed generally in an office setting with access to a personal computer and computerized and manual equipment records. Work is also routinely performed in warehouse areas where pertinent safety and security procedures must be followed. May be directed to perform equipment management duties, transferring of equipment and disposal/recycling of equipment.
