Job Summary

The Suding lab is recruiting a grassland ecologist to join a project assessing drought effects on rangelands across spatial scales, with an emphasis on feedbacks between soil and plant recruitment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

As part of a team, assist with field and lab work related to drought and grazing manipulations and patch size dynamics, involving measurements of ecosystem functions, plant composition and mapping, plant functional traits, and seedling recruitment and establishment. Assist with digitization of plant maps. Assist with the analysis of drone and other imagery for the project. Maintain good communication with non-academic partners. QA/QC datasets and write meta-data, keeping rigorous data standards and notation.

What We Require

BA in related field, 1-2 years plant community field research and remote sensing experience in grassland systems

What You Will Need

Experience with measurements of ecosystem functions, plant composition and mapping, plant functional traits, and seedling recruitment and establishment. Interest in learning digitation techniques. Experience with analysis of drone and other remotely sensed or mapped imagery.
