Technical Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for a skilled Technical Accounting Manager to bring expertise in handling complex accounting standards and financial reporting. This long-term contract position is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and offers an opportunity to work on diverse accounting challenges, from mergers and acquisitions to compliance with federal aviation regulations. Responsibilities:

Analyze and apply complex accounting standards such as ASC 606 for revenue recognition and ASC 842 for leases, ensuring proper implementation across the organization.

Conduct in-depth technical accounting research and document findings through comprehensive memos and position papers, particularly for transactions like mergers, acquisitions, equity, and stock-based compensation.

Oversee the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP or IFRS.

Act as a key liaison with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and detailed explanations.

Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to the implementation and optimization of new accounting systems to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Provide technical accounting guidance to internal teams and deliver training on new standards or organizational policies.

Collaborate with departments such as legal, treasury, and corporate development to address accounting implications of new business initiatives.

Ensure adherence to federal aviation regulations and industry-specific accounting requirements.

Support month-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger management. Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in technical accounting, including exposure to complex accounting standards.

Strong knowledge of month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Proficiency in preparing and analyzing consolidated financial statements and conducting financial statement audits.

Familiarity with accounting requirements for pre-IPO and IPO processes.

Experience in the aviation or commercial aviation industry, with knowledge of federal aviation regulations.

Excellent research and documentation skills for technical accounting issues.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with auditors and cross-functional teams.

Proficiency with accounting systems and the ability to support system implementations or improvements.
