Summary This position is located in Defense Information Systems Agency, FL - (J4) FACILITIES & LOGISTICS DIRECTORATE. Responsibilities General/Facility Engineer and as such is responsible for the administration of DISA engineering management policy. Prepares standard operating procedures for the day-to-day engineering operations of the agency. Provides professional facility engineering guidance in formulation and review of Military Construction and minor construction projects. Maintains a continuous overview of building systems to determine their adequacy and cost effectiveness. Maintains contact with OSD and other military departments on professional committees planning DoD policy change recommendations in Real Property Maintenance Activities, long-range facilities programs, and Agency mission changes. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirement: GS-0801 General Engineer Basic Requirement: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:- Professional registration- Written Test- Specified academic courses- Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess: Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in planning, programming, developing, implementing, and managing all facility engineering requirements relative to construction, operation, maintenance, procurement, and logistics of basic support systems. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position.
