The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
Be accountable for the conception, architecture, engineering and delivery of leading-edge data science solutions for production BLUP, genomic prediction, and legacy model workflows to business partners working in local and global teams.
Function as a subject matter expert and Data Science Ambassador while fostering internal and external partnerships for collaborative initiatives.
Independently perform statistical analysis, computer programming, predictive modeling, and experimental design
Develop sustainable, consumable, accurate, and impactful reporting on model inputs, model outputs, observed outputs, business impact, and key performance indicators for the BLUP pipeline and the suite of deployed legacy models
Contribute to the development of code, bioinformatic analyses pipelines, computational tools, and databases for mining and visualizing large genomic data sets
Explore and implement modeling and IT solutions to enhance the current BLUP and genomic prediction workflows
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline and automate workflows across various functions and countries
Troubleshoot and optimize existing models and processes to improve efficiency
Use advanced mathematical models, machine learning algorithms, operations research techniques, and strong business acumen to deliver insight, recommendations, and solutions
Use AI, deep learning (RNN / CNN), and other cutting-edge techniques, to evaluate how new technologies help us better understand connections between genomes and environments, and how we can use them to improve new plant genetics
Lead initiatives within the Data Science Community
Guide others (direct or indirect), set strategy, identify technical gaps, apply data science acumen to unsolved business goals, and prioritize and allocate resources
