LOCATION: ISD742 ABE Sites SCHEDULE: Hourly Hours may vary based on program needs Daytime and evening hours available REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Adult Basic Education Programs SALARY: $40/hour QUALIFICATIONS: Required Current K-12 teaching license (any subject area); licensure in ABE; or BA or MA in ESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Bilingual Education Preferred Previous experience working with adults POSITION SUMMARY: This position will teach a variety of subject areas to adult learners who are studying to achieve an Adult High School Diploma, as issued through the Minnesota Department of Education or to adults studying English as a Second Language; to create a safe and caring climate and culture in which we prepare, engage, educate, empower and inspire all learners in partnership with their surrounding community to be successful in today's and tomorrow's society. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Instructional Planning and Preparation Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy Demonstrate knowledge of students Select instructional goals Demonstrate knowledge of resources Design coherent instruction adhering to ABE standards in CCRS, ACES, and digital literacy Assess student learning Classroom Environment Create an environment of respect and rapport Establish a culture for learning Manage classroom procedures Manage student behavior Organize physical space Instructional Interaction Communicate clearly and accurately Use questioning and discussion techniques Engage students in learning Provide feedback to students Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness Professional Responsibilities Reflect on teaching Maintain accurate records Communicate with families Contribute to the school and district Grow and develop professionally Show professionalism Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing BENEFITS: We offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week.
